Inspirational program empowers employees to celebrate the contributions of their peers
Oakland County, MI, February 10, 2020 — 
Christine Ramaekers, VP of MainStreet Design Build is proud to announce this month’s “Employee of the Month” winner, LaToya Tillman. “Acknowledging our amazing staff is vital to give them credit for a job well done,” smiles Christine, “but it’s extra special when the accolades come from their coworkers. This month they praised LaToya for her positive attitude, and her uncanny ability to keep everything running smoothly in our office.”
An Executive Officer Coordinator, LaToya Tillman works behind the scenes to help ensure the award-winning company is providing their signature friendly customer service, timeless design, and attention to detail. Her non-stop days are spent supporting all departments and administrative tasks through marketing assistance and logistical support, with warm greetings and personalized help for callers and on-site guests.
“Being nominated by my peers was such a great feeling of acceptance,” beams LaToya. “I feel that this peer-driven process is great, and allows fellow co-workers to commend and praise each other for their contributions and work ethic. The award leaves a really positive impact by allowing every employee a chance to compliment their fellow coworker in a positive way.”
The voting process occurs monthly at the Mainstreet Design Build all-staff meeting, where each employee gets one vote and must include reasons they chose that particular colleague for the distinction. The winner is announced and celebrated with a plaque placed in the kitchen, and a personal gift certificate.
“When I walk past the framed certificate hanging on the wall,” smiles LaToya, “I am reminded of the value I bring to Mainstreet and the entire team. It makes me feel great to know the impact that I have on my colleagues, and encourages me to uphold what my peers think of me–and then do even greater!”
Offered since October of last year, the program has so far recognized Jordan MacKenzie, Purchasing Officer and Eric Carmichael, Carpenter. In December all employees were given the honor at the holiday party.
