BIRMINGHAM, MI – March 31, 2009 – Each year, Detroit Home Magazine holds a competition for designers, architects, builders and artisans. This competition offers a variety of categories for experts to submit works from the previous year. A variety of experts from across the country review the submissions and only “the best of the best” receive the awards.
MainStreet Design Build, a Birmingham based full service design through construction firm since 1991, was selected as a 2009 winner in the Small Bath Category for their outstanding work on a Bloomfield Village home. “The primary bedroom and bathroom in our 1958 Dutch Colonial had never been renovated. The original area consisted of the bedroom with two awkward closets, an open dressing area with a vanity and sink and a small outdated bathroom. The entire area was dysfunctional, but included enough space to make some significant design changes,” describes homeowner Julie Wardlow. She added “the designers at MainStreet borrowed space from an adjacent bedroom and were able to provide room for a private toilet room, custom shower, free standing air tub and beautiful two-person vanity area. We absolutely love our new space!”
“We are extremely honored to receive this award”, says Christine Ramaekers, CKD, Vice President of MainStreet Design Build. “In the current state of this economy, it’s great to see that the local industry is still creating and being recognized for their wonderful works. We continue to be committed to working in this area on both small and large projects and really enjoy what we do for our clients,” she adds. “While national design competitions are a great way to be recognized by your peers, winning a Detroit Home award is special because the people we work for get to see their work published in an excellent, local publication.”
