This historic home in Birmingham, Michigan, is almost a century old, and it was time to expand some of the smaller areas in the home, including the basement, kitchen, eating nook and garage. Architect and builder Christine Ramaekers of MainStreet Design Build turned the 2,500-square-foot home into 4,000 square feet and made the extension seamless.

Main Street did our complete home remodel in 2020-2021. They were perfect professionals, and we never had any of the problems that we ran into with EVERY.OTHER.CONTRACTOR.IN.EXISTENCE. I cannot recommend them enough!
“I just wanted to let you know that even though summer is almost over we still get compliments on the work you did on our front porch. We are sitting on the porch now and we always have people walking by on their way to the beach…..we are constantly told how beautiful our house looks. Thank you for everything and please pass this along to Kyle and everyone else.”
MainStreet was honest and upfront about the cost of our addition. There were no surprises – they did not low ball up front to add on at the end. The quality and professionalism of the entire team was outstanding. You truly get what you pay for with MainStreet.
MainStreet’s quality of work was excellent and its employees were very knowledgeable, courteous, and professional.
Our experience with MainStreet has been great! The project manager quickly and efficiently minimized surprises throughout the project and also worked expeditiously to resolve any concerns.
Our experience was very positive, we found MainStreet to be very professional, and considerate of our ideas. The job finished very close to the time estimated, which can be rare in that business!
Thank you to the entire team for making our home ‘fit’ us! From the first consultation, you understood this wasn’t about trying to make a small house huge. We needed it to suit our lives better, and that is what you gave us.
My husband and I give our absolute highest recommendation for MainStreet Design Build! They’ve worked on many projects big and small for us over the past few years — from a total home office design/build to conquering a longstanding drainage issue outside the home. They’ve introduced us to stellar people in the industry — their handyman Marq, painters, plumbers, carpenters. Everybody is first class. MainStreet project manager Dwain is on my speed dial list as he’s helped us out so many times with projects or problems at our home. He is knowledgeable, dependable and just always has a great attitude. Will hope to have some photos of our beautiful MainStreet home office posted soon. Thanks Steve and Christine!
What an amazing group of individuals from the top on down. Main Street touts itself as taking the worry out of your project from beginning to end. And that is so true! What a great group of people. For my project, I only had a select few. But, from Steve and Christine to Kevin and Rick, the experience was amazing. First, Steve put up with my details for my pergola (which he probably regrets-just kidding). Then, Rick, the project manager was always there to answer a question, or knocking on my door for any concerns. Lastly, Kevin is a treasure. I get up early and would text Kevin and he would be answering within 5 minutes. Telling me he was on any concerns I had. I could go on. The finished project is beyond my expectations. Its all in the details. The final pergola fits so well to the frame of my house, even the tiny detail around the gutter. The height is awesome. Matching my stone to pre-existing stone, makes it look like its part of the original house and not an “add on”. I am so amazed at my finished project! Additional thanks for using Walpole-this time. The detail in the pergola really is amazing. My pergola looks like no one else’s. I will definitely be using them again for projects I have in my for the future. When you give them a project, all your headaches are gone for looking for contractors. That leaves you all the time for looking for your tile, etc. What a great idea to have a company to complete a project from beginning to end and have QUALITY contractors to do it!! I could go on, but this would get too long. Thank you so much to MSD.
Mainstreet is top notch!! They make your visions come to life and have such great ideas to help make it that much more!! The people at Mainstreet are the best!! I was very comfortable and trusted all who came into our home, some started to feel like friends/ family. When they finished our kitchen I actually missed seeing them!! Highly recommend Mainstreet!!
