Birmingham, MI – May 15, 2015 – The Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County today announced the appointment of Steve Ramaekers to the board, effective immediately. Mr. Ramaekers’ appointment expands the Board to 16 members.
“Steve’s 25 plus years of experience as a carpenter, business owner and high-end remodeling contractor will add a valuable perspective to our Board of Directors,” said Tim Ruggles, Executive Director. “We appreciate his willingness to serve on our board and look forward to benefitting from his judgment and counsel.”
Ruggles also shared his appreciation for Ramaekers’ “many years of involvement with and support of Habitat Oakland through First United Methodist Church of Birmingham.”
Mr. Ramaekers is President and Director of Architecture at MainStreet Design Build, an award-winning, luxury design build firm. He manages the company’s operations, as well as controls the conceptual design and architectural process for each project. Steve has a rich background of more than 25 years in the business. He started his career in the early 1980s in rough carpentry, then as a finish carpenter, and up the ranks to project management. Steve started his own business because he saw a “lack of quality and detail” in the local remodeling industry.
“I felt I could do a better job if I owned the project from start to finish. That’s the advantage of a design/build company,” says Ramaekers. “Now in our 24th year of business, what drives me is making my client’s dreams a reality. We focus on the details in every aspect of the project – from design, to materials, to construction, to finish work. Paying attention to details makes all the difference.”
Steve received his Certified Remodeler’s certification (CR) from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) in 1995. He continues to hone his craft as an expert in the field, working with and advising others through peer groups such as fellow Big 50 recipients and the Remodelers Advantage Roundtables.
